7 Colours. 7 Days. 7 Speeches
7 pants is a project by a curator and artist Sasha Shagi, which represents an installation product (either live or online) about 7 coloured pants during 7 days with 7 speeches on the chosen topic.
When walking we make steps, steps determine our movement, our movement borders on our pace of life, and our life is able to fill stops and movements with colours. 7 pants project is textual and visual stops with cloth changes: when you constantly run, sometimes you just want to stop or sit down and to say a word or seven.
Program of private residence by Alevtina Kakhidze.
Every person makes an impact on history – either of small districts or big cities, or maybe of the whole world. Being an average or a prominent person, each of us enriches and builds the history by our actions through life. Alevtina Kakhidze, artist and curator, kicks off a project of private residency Expanded History of Muzychi. Within this project artists from all over the world can stay in a personal studio of Alevtina Kakhidze, situated in the town of Muzychi near Kyiv.
Often residence programs require quite efficient scenarios. In this case there are no such rules. Open and simple atmosphere in this private space plays a role of canvas for the artistic self-expression during exploration of the new place. Curators, artists and theoreticians might add some “action” to the calm life of Muzychi and so will enlarge its history by their simple presence in the town. This program is a long-term.
Event of red happiness and chance meetings.
Every Sunday during last summer an artist Alina Kopitsa with her friends and random passers-by sewed a carpet of roses made out of old, red-coloured clothes. Alina promoted healthy and unobtrusive idea of collectivism through art.
The main idea of the event was creation of an additional and innovative space for communication. Additionally, this is great either art- or labour therapy since reasonable amount of the manual, routine labour settles your nerves and cheers you u
A literary artistic impromptu without any zoology but probably with some philosophy.
This novel story tells us about a small Ukrainian named Sasha Shagi who didn’t become a pianist but wrote a light literary psychedelia «Fantasie Impromptu» , in which he travelled all over different cities of the world under cover of a half-made-up character King of the Keys, blaming sparrows for his dreams that never came true. Then he asked artists from all over the world to do the same thing artistically – to paint sparrows with their lost dreams.
56 artists from 23 countries drew their local sparrows and opened their hearts to the world. Some very interesting Ukrainians exposed their souls on the local level – Rosava, Yura Khustochka, Vasya Frolova, Lubko Deresh, Irena Karpa, Anton Fridlyand, Ira Merleni.
All this was presented on Novemeber 08 at the Hudgraf gallery. The publication of a literary art-book “Fantasie Impromptu” is under way.
Bar Crawling on the Occasion of Bearded Man`s Day.
Bar Crawling is a fun drinking process by either an organized or occasional group of people going from one bar to another. This event has been often devoted to various cultural events, while the first bar crawling was devoted to Bearded Man`s Day, September 14.
317 years ago in September 14 the innovative and provocative tsar Peter I the Great imposed a tax on beard to popularize the European culture. Today - hundreds of years later when the culture borders do not exist anymore and there are no limits for male and female beauty, beards have became a symbol of beauty and virtuosity - barbed or smooth, red or black, short or long!
Big cards of love and hate. Social interactive game.
Do you hate Muslims? Are you suddenly feel ashamed of gay people? Or, maybe, on the contrary, you hate homophobes and Nazis? You have a chance to try on similar roles and think over the question – who determines our diversity? Are there any two absolutely identical people physically and psychologically? Playing the social game of illustrated cards ‘Stereotypes’ opens a possibility for you to be in any of the discriminated roles and try all the “flavors” of stereotypes regarding religious, gender, skin color and social groups.
New instrument for studying questions of tolerance. Educational instrument for social philosophy, individual rights and duties, individual interests and social responsibility.
Personal exhibition by Alina Kopytsya.
Windows in the city were dusted. And nobody cares of them. Once windows were carefully prettied, cleaned and decorated with colors. Windows were proud of a new life and beauty.
Windows is an author’s project by Alina Kopytsya presented in a hallway of the Contemporary Arts Center, where the window frames, collected at the Kyiv garbage dumps and remade in patterned artifacts by the artist, have been displayed. Garbage stuff such as colour cellophane, packs and paper were used as the art materials.
Obtaining personal space as an expression of feminist sentiments.
According to psychotherapists and sociologists a person has a 1,3 m personal social space. Trespassing the area less than 1,3 metres triggers the feeling of a constant stress and subconscious anxiety.
Within the framework of Personal Space project funded by the EIDOS Foundation, Alina Kopitsa made a defensive, bulky dress and in the morning hours took a ride in the public transport from Fastiv to Khreschatik. The dress that represented visualisation of the artist’s personal space, helped her to demonstrate a claim for getting a relief from stress and a need of personal comfort. Together with obtaining the physical environment the artist was also expressing her feminist sentiments.
Emotion research in apartment buildins via several questions to the public.
"Can one man kiss the beautiful eyes of another man?" - it is one of 50 questions that tenants of 7 apartment buildings in Kyiv saw one morning. Images of men of different races and orientation were posted on the walls on every floor together with a question. Those interested could send an answer by email. The exposition lasted less than a day. The research found out the loss of simplified understanding of possibilities and actions between accepted and unaccepted relationships of the sexes — man and man, man and woman.
